DICE on the Fully Abled Student in Kraków
The 8th edition of the Fully Abled Student Conference was held in Krakow from 29-30 October 2014. The yearly event, organized by the Foundation Institute for Regional Development (FIRR), gathers representatives of universities from Poland as well as non-governmental organizations, government institutions and politician. Among various presentations concerning challenges and good practices connected with life of student with disabilities on the 30th of October, there was also a Dice Project presentation. The presentation focused on the introduction of the DigiPlace4All platform.
Ms. Kinga Dumnicka and Ms. Małgorzata Polak talked with great enthusiasm about the idea of peer to peer support. This type of support is the essence and heart of project and the related platform.
The DigiPlace4all portal will be enhanced with access to social media and user generated content to create a dynamic community based on close, direct relationships among people with disabilities, coaches and teachers, and employers.
With this tool, people with disabilities will have the opportunity to broaden their knowledge and get information on the latest accessible technologies. Creating such a network of mutual support will reduce the problem of the digital exclusion of people with disabilities. The presentation ended with showing the promotional video.
